Interview with Tyske Ludder on the web - http://www.exscan.de

January 18, 2006

Q1: Ít's good to have you back! After a long hiatus, Tyske Ludder are set to resurge with the release of their third album in late January 2006. Could you tell us more about Sojus?

Thanks for the words.Sojus means union In Russian & the album refers to the global disasters of the new millenium: child abuse, physical violence against women & religious fanatism. We remained faithful to the original Tyske Ludder old school sound but we incorporated elements of other electronic music styles as well.

Q2: Tyske Ludder was a leading dark elektro act in the mid 90's.What are your favorite elecktro bands and which styles of music did you listen to growing up?

We started Tyske Ludder in the early 90?s and we were heavily influenced by punk and new wave bands such as Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division as well as early EBM bands like Front 242 and A;grumh. In 1994, we released our debut album ?Bombt Die Mörder?.This was the beginning of phase II of Tyske ludder's career. Our sound had evolved into dark elektro mixed with old school EBM elements. We have many favorite bands.Skinny Puppy and Frontline Assembly had a major impact on us but we also enjoy listening different kinds of electronic music sometimes goa, sometimes feindflug sometimes new order and so on...

Q3: Your backcatalogue "Bombt Die Morder" (KM-Musik,1994); "Dalmarnock" (KM-Musik,1995) and "Creutzfeldt" EP(KM-Musik,1996) are long out out-of-print.Are you planning on re-releasing your backcatalogue?

We have had some problems with our former label KM Music and we don't have the rights for the 3 cds. Maybe we could reach an agreement and release a Best of cd but we think it is more important to focus on our new material and release another cd in autumn.

Q4: "Creutzfeldt" EP came out almost a decade ago. What have you guys been doing since 1996 and what made you decide to come back to the underground scene?

When we stopped in 1997, we were burned out and we were in no position to give Tyske Ludder a new kick.Geographical distance and our personal lives had a major impact on our working relationship &we agreed to put Tyske Ludder to rest. Then we met again last year &had a fantastic concert at the beatclub in Dessau. We decided after the show to resurrect Tyske Ludder and work on a new album.

Q5: What do you think of the hellektro/futurepop-infested electro scene and do you see things ever changing to pure harsh elektro instead of "poppy" bands getting all the attention?

The electro scene has changed a lot over the last 10-15 years. Futurepop became very popular in the new millenium, but today most people got bored of seeing the same bands every year on the main stages of festivals.Several young electro bands went back to the roots of ebm and its such a fine thing seeing them having fun and dancing like crazy.. When ebm started 20 years ago we had the same goal: have fun and move bodies to heavy hard electronic music. We think ebm is back on track and it's definitely not dead, no matter what other artists (like sascha mario klein from Neuroticfish) say. The audience love the old school sound.

Q6: Is there any special synthesizer or software program that you consider to be the best to work with?

We use a wide variety of software programs and hardware synths including an old ms 20 or emulator II for example, but we don't have a favourite profram. Ladde and Olaf live far apart &they each have their preferences.

Q7: How did you get in touch with Black Rain and are you satisfied with the promotion so far?

We got in touch with Gerald last year, when we played the attack festival in Magdeburg. we watched the activities of the label for several months and we all agreed to sign to Black Rain. Their promotion is very good and we think our working relationship with Gerald will be very productive. The ads for "Sojus" of Sojus were very impressive and the new shirts are amazing.,We've never seen a label so enthusiastic before. Tyske Ludder girly, were ready 3 weeks after signing the contract. That's amazing!Last but not least,Black Rain has an impressive roster &our labelmates have been very supportive.

Q8: Are you planning a tour for North America anytime soon?

Set up a tour schedule, book our flights & we'll be there!

Q9: Any last words or comments for your fans?

We hope that sojus will meet the expectations of Tyske Ludder fans and the new electroheads.
